William H. Child

Bill Child serves as the Chairman of the Board of R. C. Willey Home Furnishings. As a young man he intended to become a school teacher; he got into retailing almost by accident when, after college, he was handed the keys to a 600-square-foot R. C. Willey store by his ailing father-in-law, Rufus Willey. Under his management, the company has grown over the past 47 years from two employees to over 2,600 employees, from the single to 12 large stores in Utah, Idaho, and Nevada with an annual sales volume of $500 million. Bill combs the world for unusual products and offers a vast array of electronics and appliances as well as furniture. In 1995, R.C. Willey was acquired by Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway. The Berkshire group ranks No. 4 in home furnishings in the United States. R.C. Willey has won many awards, among which is the National Home Furnishings Retailer of the Year.
