Scott S. Parker

Scott S. Parker is President Emeritus of Intermountain Health Care (IHC). He was named president of IHC in 1975 when the nonprofit health system was formed. He served in this position until his retirement in 1998. Under his 23 years of leadership IHC has grown from15 community hospitals to a health care system that consists of 22 new or significantly renovated hospitals in Utah and Idaho, over 100 Health Centers, and other physician clinics and offices; a home health agency; over 2,000 affiliated physicians, and IHC Health Plans. The visionary decision made in 1983 to enter into health plans, has transformed IHC into a full service, vertically integrated health care organization, where doctors, hospitals and health plans work together in a mutual search for higher quality care and service.

Scott is currently a member of several corporate boards, including the BMW Bank of North America and Bonneville International Corporation, as well as community boards including the Utah Symphony and Opera. Among his many honors are the "Giant in Out City", and the David Eccles School of Business, Hall of Fame. He and his wife Sydne have four children, 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
