Why Volunteer

Why not? Really, there are as many reasons to be a JA volunteer as there are students in Utah. So let’s move on to what it means to be a JA volunteer.

• For starters, it means you will change the lives of young people, Utah students who need positive role models in their lives.

• It means you could find yourself singing a rap song with a second grade class, explaining the flow of money in a community.

• It might mean conducting mock job interviews with fifth graders, helping them better understand their own skills and what employers look for.

• Or it may mean answering junior high students’ e-mails asking you about stock investments they are making online, using JA Personal Finance tools.

• It means spending five, one-hour sessions in a classroom in exchange for the chance to teach young people life skills, economic realities, and finance literacy--in short, relevant concepts that challenge students to excel in school and far beyond.

By all means, JA volunteers make a valuable contribution to Utah’s kids and Utah’s future. The thousands of caring JA volunteers who have taught (many of them return year after year) know this. And they know the satisfaction of helping to prepare young people to be positive role models themselves, someday.

Chances are, there’s a great group of students who can’t wait to learn something meaningful from you. Please call me to discuss the opportunities.

Sincerely,
