Introduction
Junior Achievement City (JA City) is an interactive, 10,000 square-foot hands-on
learning facility located in Discovery Gateway in downtown Salt Lake City. JA City has the feel of an actual community, including a City Hall, a Town Square, and 15 different businesses ranging from utilities and banks to retail stores and news outlets. Each business is sponsored by a real company, with each storefront featuring the logo and actual marketplace appearance of the sponsor, bringing the City to life for the students.
This coming school year, more than 12,000 students will visit JA City. Through hands-on opportunities, fifth-grade students gain real-life experience working in a business and eighth-grade students learn the skills necessary to manage their personal finances.
JA City programs broaden students' horizons, show them possibilities, encourage them to dream big about their futures, and help each student understand the world of work.
